Here we go again. Let's review last year's predictions.
1. ECONOMICS: Silver will end the year above US$40. Minimum.
L, 0-1. At the start of the year, gold was 1421 and silver was 30.94. Today gold is 1600 and silver is 29. The end.
2. POLITICS: The year of the police state.
W, 1-1. Oh how unfortunately true this one is. Please review my article about how America became a police state. My prediction is almost as accurate as when I said Bella Thorne would become a Disney star. "If you see something, say something." Anwar al-Awlaki, a U.S. citizen, was murdered by the government. Occupy Wall Street protesters were broken up and physically assaulted by police. The TSA is expanding beyond airports. The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act allows Americans to be detained indefinitely. Americans have no idea how horrible things are going to get. The changes happen gradually so you don't notice. I am truly worried that the United States will be even worse than Nazi Germany. "Terrorists" will be blamed for destroying the entire Western economy. The Marines will be worse than the Schutzstaffel. The US is on a mission to 'rid the world of terrorists.' Most people don't make the connection between supposed terrorists today and Jews of the Nazi era. There is even similar looting of enemy gold.
3. MUSIC: The rise of the frustrated rap/rock star.
D, 1-1-1. Nope, every song on the radio is about sexual relationships. We did, however, see that frustration arise in the form of Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street. Therefore, I give myself a draw on this one.
4. SPORTS: New Zealand will win the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
W, 2-1-1. Correct. New Zealand defeated France in the championship. Scumbag NBC didn't televise most of the World Cup.
5. LIFESTYLE: Flight from Facebook.
W, 3-1-1. Correct on the basis that Google+ has been highly successful. Twitter remains my personal preference. I'm never going back to Facebook.
PREDICTIONS FOR 2012
1. ECONOMICS: We're screwed. At least in the early part of 2012. I'm ready to go long the VIX and short the HUI. It's temporary, though. The prices have always been controlled by the banks. The precious metals will soar 2013-2016. There will be a physical silver supply crisis. The price of silver got crushed in 2008, but physical disappeared at those prices, and the price surged upward afterward. I am looking for a chance to swap the rest of my gold for silver, maybe at 64:1.
2. POLITICS: Ron Paul will not become President, because Americans are the most brainwashed fools in the world outside of North Korea. Romney and Gingrich are pathetic candidates, and so I guess that means Obama pulls off the win. I did an electoral college map. If Obama can win both Pennsylvania and Florida, everything else can go red. If he loses both Ohio and Florida, he can still win, although it is fairly difficult.
3. MUSIC: Get ready for the next big star in electropop: Sabi. Best known for her featured appearance in You Make Me Feel.... She is better looking and has a better voice than a lot of the regular electropop girls. Maybe all of 'em. She's gorgeous.
4. SPORTS: The winner of the most gold medals at London 2012 will be (sigh) the United States. Rounding out the top five will be China, Great Britain, Russia, and my people, the Germans.
5. LIFESTYLE: The Hunger Games is the film that will best define the culture of the United States in 2012. A film is a mega-hit if it hits US$200 million in the US. Think about The Matrix, Harry Potter, and Twilight as previous examples. If I hadn't already read the book, I would be insanely excited for this film.
Disclosure: Long physical gold/silver.

If Florida is even in play, then Obama wins. It made a strong shift to red in '10. He's really in trouble against Romney. Obama's only hope as of now is sweeping the midwest (including OH, and not IN) and CO. If Gingrich is the nominee, then Obama has 99.9% chance of winning, but that won't happen.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes you think he's really in trouble against Romney? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/us/general_election_romney_vs_obama-1171.html
ReplyDeleteRomney is winning the R nomination only because the rest of the field is so weak. (Paul is 'too crazy' for the average idiot American.)
Polls at this point historically mean little. The common voter will choose who they've heard of, which favors the incumbent. Most people won't pay attention to the election until summer. Approval ratings give a better indication where Obama stands.
ReplyDeleteRomney is also the perfect fit for the electoral map. He makes NH likely red. He puts NE and Midwest states into play that Obama must win, where "moderates" will vote for him.
Believe me, I'm no fan of Romney. He's a terrible lying statist that will appease the majority more than Obama does. But, he's a lock to win the GOP nomination now, unless Perry does a Tebow miracle.
Perry has been dead since he couldn't remember the third thing. It's Romney as the safe choice unless Paul builds some momentum from Iowa.
ReplyDeleteDon't assume anything logical when it comes to politics.
Dr. Paul isn't winning. The core GOP voters and the neocons both despise and discredit him at every turn. He may win the Iowa caucus since it's a tiny sample size, but beyond that, he has no hope.
ReplyDeleteGingrich was never a serious candidate. He doesn't have the funding to make a run. This was purely to sell books in the future.
Perry is probably dead at this point, but he's who the neocons want. He should improve somewhat since the debates are over.
